Why You Should Chase Your Dreams And Not Your Friends!

When you were a child didn’t you have dreams about what you were going to do when you were an adult, about the person you were going to become? As children we dream big dreams about ourselves becoming space travelers or some kind of hero saving someone’s life. Many kids think that they will grow up to hit that World Series-winning home run. When you are a child there is nothing inside your head telling you can’t do anything. Unfortunately, while growing up, outside influences start affecting the dreams that we have for ourselves where we start believing what others say forgetting about the plans we have for ourselves.
Regrets Can be Quite a Few
The single largest and most moving regret that people state they have at the end of their lives is that somewhere along the way they give up on a dream they once had for themselves. These same people also voiced that the second type of regret they possess is following what someone else decided that they should do with their lives. This can be viewed as the greatest gift given by a parent or worse act of child abuse possibly ever conducted. Parents that open up the world for a great variety of choice for their children can help foster their ability to put into motion personal dreams created as opposed to making a child follow a parent’s dream. Often while growing up, dreams revealed by a child are condemned as wistful fantasies and only quite silly.
Hey, Why Don’t You…
When faced with the prospect as an adult to enter the scary world of self-employment, that condemning voice of friends and family can have a direct effect upon just how successful any new entrepreneur may be. Although the dream you hold for yourself about finding personal and financial independence can motivate you successfully, listening to what your friends think you should do may have an adverse effect. Sometimes it takes a great deal of courage to ignore what others “dream” for you. The common obstacle facing activity throughout one’s life will always be fear of change or the unknown.
Fear is Natural
Just because you have a bit of fear about making your dreams come true doesn’t mean you have no courage. This is not the absence of fear but is the ability to face the unknown in spite of being afraid.
Often, just because they actually do love you, friends will be quite fearful of the choices you intend to make. However, it is your life and there can be nothing more devastating than having to live with any “what if” question for the rest of your life.
Choosing Your Own Path
It will always come down to you exhibiting the courage to make choices that others feel are wrong for you. Success hardly ever is the end result of never taking a risk. Being other-influenced leads to a life of loud mediocrity. This will forever reverberate in your inner ear shouting at you that you could have been courageous and followed your own dreams. Remember that it is understandable to possess fear but inexcusable to never act to follow your own selected path.
