If you’re interested in network marketing or an MLM business, there are three things you need to know before you get started. Often, entrepreneurs soliciting people to get involved in network marketing or an MLM business fail to reveal these three important factors. Many companies depend upon the use of emotionally charged hype to attract people, preying upon their basic needs which include whatever a great deal of money can possibly buy. This could be everything from things to time. Each company employs a great deal of highly charged, motivating language aimed at getting a prospect excited, making them commit. Here are those three things you need to consider.
1. Part-time Effort Doesn’t Cut It
The first great lie about network marketing or being involved in an MLM business is that a lot of money can be made with little effort executed. This is a bold-face lie. There is a great difference between the part-time hours versus a part-time effort. Most successful entrepreneurs are always involved in the promotion of their business, regardless the time of day. It takes a full time effort to produce great success. This does not necessarily mean you need to put in 100-hour days, but operating your business needs to be your main focus constantly. Stay away from the hype that claims great amount of riches while working five hours per week.
2.You Don’t Need a Business or Sales Background
Let me tell you not one of the recognizably big earners in the MLM or network marketing business, who is successful today, did not come from either a sales or business related background. Are there exceptions? Absolutely. However, let’s not kid you. If you do not have the necessary skills and experience conducting your own network marketing or MLM business, you will need to spend a lot of time and effort to acquire them. Remember, you are operating a business that demands you interact with other people which require both management and social skills. If you do not develop these, you become nothing more than a vending machine sitting in a location waiting for someone to place a coin in your slot.
3. Dependence Upon Friends and Family
Another one of the great lies is that all you have to do is show your friends and family what you’re involved in and you’ll be well on your way to riches. This is nothing but a crock. It is the same initiation that insurance sales companies put new employees through each and every time. They want you to make a list of everybody you know and love and then make an appointment with these people to show them what you’re involved in and get them involved also. This is exactly where most people begin the road to failure. Even if you were to find the ability to get in front of everybody you know, it will take a lot more people than everybody you know to succeed in any one of these MLM or network marketing businesses. Companies always benefit but not necessarily the distributor. And, although this business opportunity may be quite legitimate, your friends and loved ones are the last place you should look for prospects. You will be more successful attracting friends and loved ones to your MLM or network marketing business once they see how prosperous you have become.
